ASISAT Oshoala’s goal for her former club Barcelona has been selected as the 2023/2024 UEFA Women’s Champions League Goal of the Season.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria striker left Barcelona in February for Bay FC in the United States of America but she scored a stunner in this season’s Champions League before her departure.
Oshoala’s goal is chosen as the best by
UEFA’s Technical Observer panel among a shortlist of 10 goals during the competition, which Barcelona won on Saturday night by beating Lyon 2-0 in the final.
“The top ten goals of the 2023/24 UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign have been selected by UEFA’s Technical Observer panel, with Nigerian forward Asisat Oshoala taking the prize for Goal of the Season thanks to her stunning bicycle kick for Barcelona against Benfica on Matchday 1,” UEFA announced.
“Also for Barça, midfielder Aitana Bonmatí took second spot for her bending effort in the quarter-final second-leg win against Brann, while Lyon’s Delphine Cascarino came third for her long-range strike in the quarter-final second-leg victory over Benfica.”
Oshoala, 29, is serial award winner having won the African Women’s Player of the Year prize a record six times.
