Federation Cup: El-Kanemi to battle Abia Warriors in June 29 final



IT will be a battle of two warrior teams in the final of the President Federation Cup as El-Kanemi Warriors and Abia Warriors will clash for the trophy.

The final will be held at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on June 29, the Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed.

To get to the final, Abia Warriors defeated fellow Nigeria Premier Football League side Kano Pillars while El-Kanemi, newly promoted back to the NPFL, overcame Kebbi United.

Abia Warriors secured their final berth yesterday with a 4-3 penalty shootout victory over Kano Pillars at the Lafia City Stadium in Nasarawa, after full-time ended 0-0.

Former winners El-Kanemi Warriors also prevailed 5-4 after a penalty shootout over surprise semi-finalists Kebbi United at the NFF/FIFA Goal Project in Abuja, with regulation time also ending 0-0.

In the shootout, Pillars missed two of their five kicks while Abia Warriors converted all their four kicks.

In Abuja, hard-fighting Kebbi United missed their second attempt in the shootout, while El-Kanemi Warriors converted all their five spot kicks to make the progress to MKO Abiola National Stadium for the final.
