The ongoing 15th edition of Heineken Lagos Fashion Week 2025 at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, has been a spectacular celebration of African fashion, creativity, and culture. Themed “In Full Bloom,” the event has lived up to its hype, showcasing the best of the continent’s style and innovation.
The fashion extravaganza which began on Wednesday, October 29 to climax tomorrow, Sunday, November 2, has brought together designers, industry leaders, and fashion enthusiasts, setting the tone for a vibrant fashion season.
Heineken Lagos Fashion Week has consistently been at the forefront of promoting African fashion, and this year’s edition was no exception, as it features a mix of established and emerging designers, showcasing their unique perspectives and talents.
This year’s event placed a strong emphasis on sustainability, with designers incorporating eco-friendly materials and practices into their collections, as the Green Access program, a flagship accelerator initiative, continues to shape the future of African fashion by supporting emerging designers and promoting sustainable fashion practices.
The event opened on radiant note with African style and cultural pride, as designers, models, and tastemakers celebrated the continent’s creative excellence while African labels shone boldly and with unmistakable character. The Heineken district — a dynamic, fashion-focused experience zone — was at the heart of the event, with live sessions of fan-favourite podcasts recorded on-site.
The runway was abuzz with excitement, featuring a diverse range of collections that highlighted African heritage and creativity. The nights were crowned with breathtaking fashion displays from dynamic designers across the continent.
Standout Moments
Some of the standout moments include the discourse on sustainability and intellectual property, which featured Ink Eze (AsoEbiBella), Omorinsola Arogundade (Bubu and Co), Sandra Tubobereni (Tubo), and Tania Omotayo (Ziva Lagos) joining Gbemi and Toolz of the  “Off the Air” podcast on Day 1.
Day 2, had Taymesan of the “Tea with Tay” podcast engage Damola Oluwabukola, Angel Obasi, Bolajo Faweinmi, and Rebecca Fabunmi on the evolution of style in Nigeria, and Nigeria’s modelling landscape. The session revisited Lagos Fashion Week’s journey and its impact on building a sustainable ecosystem for African designers.
The “Mental Health and Creativity” discussion explored the creative industry’s relationship with mental health, featuring industry experts and thought leaders, while “The Power of Purpose” examined the connection between purpose, identity, and creative expression.
Accessories, Fringe Frenzy Takes Center Stage
Oversized bags and bold jewelry were a major trend, with designers like Onalaja and Dimeji Ilori elevating the trend with natural textures and handcrafted details, just as designers Emmy Kasbit and Hertunba incorporated fringe into their collections, creating dynamic and eye-catching looks. The Fringe Frenzy is a clear trend adding movement and texture to outfits, while designers like Ajanéé and Studio Imo pushed boundaries with daring pieces that celebrated the body and self-expression.
A Milestone Year
From the runway to the bottle, the story of Heineken’s partnership with Lagos Fashion Week is one built on style, sustainability, and a commitment to nurturing African creativity. This year’s event, marked a significant milestone, celebrating 15 years of championing African fashion and creativity.
The Heineken Lagos Fashion Week has become a platform for designers to showcase their talents, connect with industry leaders, and inspire a new generation of fashion enthusiasts.
As Omoyemi Akerele, founder of Style House Files and LagosFW, noted, “15 years represents more than a milestone. It’s proof that African creativity continues to bloom, influence, and inspire.”
