SUPER Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has begun his recovery process with a successful operation on the arm he injured during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League clash with Liverpool at Anfield last week.
Galatasaray confirmed the 27-year-old Nigeria international underwent the surgery today in Turkey after it was decided that was the best medical option.
Osimhen broke his arm after an aerial duel with Ibrahim Konate but carried on with a bandage until half-time when he was substituted off.
Galatasaray were beaten 4-0 on the night and crashed out of the competition 4-1 on aggregate in the round of 16.
Confirming the operation on X, Galatasaray wrote: “Our player Victor Osimhen, who was injured and unable to continue in our away match against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, underwent a successful operation today at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital performed by our club doctor Yener İnce.
“We wish our footballer a speedy recovery and hope he returns to the pitch as soon as possible.”
Osimhen joined Galatasaray from Napoli for a record €75 million last summer after a successful loan spell at the Turkish Super Lig champions last season.
The Nigeria international has registered an impressive 19 goals and seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions this season as Galatasaray lead the Turkish top flight by four points.
Incidentally, Osimhen had been left out of the Super Eagles squad to face Iran and Jordan in friendlies during this international window, even before he sustained the injury.
He is expected to be out for several weeks but should be back fit before the season ends in May.
