Governor Dauda Lawal has witnessed the landing of a maiden test flight at the Gusau International Airport, marking a significant feat in Zamfara State’s aviation history.
According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the test aircraft touched down at exactly 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The aircraft, a Bombardier Challenger 605 with registration number 5N-FGZ, was operated by the Federal Government of Nigeria and carried out a one-off test to assess the airport’s readiness for upcoming VIP flight operations scheduled for next week.
“Today will remain a historic day in the history of Zamfara State as Governor Lawal witnessed the landing of the maiden flight at the Gusau International Airport.
“The aircraft with registration 5N-FGZ performed a one-off test to assess the airport’s capability for VIP movements scheduled next week,” the statement read.
It further explained that the test flight was conducted in line with the provisions of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) Part 12.1.4.1(c).
