Lagosians have already designed their transport system…. We just refuse to recognise it… So we build stops no one uses… and ignore the ones everyone does.
IN most cities, bus stops are places.
In Lagos, they are… suggestions.
A beautifully built bus stop sits quietly by the road—
empty.
Meanwhile, a danfo halts in the middle of traffic,
under a “NO STOPPING” sign— ‘Oshodi, oshodi under bridge, wole.
and three others follow.
Welcome to the Republic of Anywhere Stop.
And just when you think that is the system—
you get to a junction.
There, the okadas and marwas have already created their own terminal.
No approval.
No design.
Just demand.
Passengers gather.
Engines idle.
Traffic negotiates.
Pedestrian sidewalk taken over.
Traders under tattered umbrellas make brisk business.
Truth is—
Lagosians have already designed their transport system.
We just refuse to recognise it.
So we build stops no one uses—
and ignore the ones everyone does.
Maybe the problem is not planning.
Maybe it is our refusal to design for reality.
Our Urban Planners- the ball is in your court.
How you choose to play the ball will determine whether we pass or fail.
Moral of the Satire
Order is not what we build—
it is what we choose to obey.
