THE Kebbi State Hisbah Board has arrested a man who was allegedly discovered hiding inside a “Ghana Must-Go” bag at the home of a married woman in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.
In a statement issued today, the Hisbah Board in Birnin Kebbi, which operates under the Kebbi State Ministry of Religious Affairs, confirmed the incident through its Director of Sharia, Sirajo Kamba.
According to Kamba, residents of the area alerted the board at about 12:15 a.m. yesterday, May 18, after reportedly observing a man enter the woman’s residence under suspicious circumstances.
He explained that community members suspected an alleged illicit relationship, which they believed contravened Islamic teachings, prompting them to notify the authorities.
Following the report, Hisbah officers were deployed to the residence to investigate the matter.
Kamba stated that upon arrival, officials requested permission to search the house, but the woman initially denied that anyone else was present inside the building.
However, after further engagement, she reportedly allowed the officers to conduct a thorough search of the premises, during which the suspect was allegedly found concealed inside a “Ghana Must-Go” bag.
The director added that preliminary investigations revealed an alleged romantic relationship between the man and the married woman.
According to him, both individuals reportedly admitted to the allegation during interrogation.
Kamba said the suspects would be arraigned before a court to face legal proceedings in accordance with Islamic law.
In a related development, the Kano State Hisbah Board last week arrested two women and a 35-year-old fish seller over an alleged attempt to engage in immoral conduct in Kano.
The Director of Public Enlightenment of the Kano Hisbah Board, Auwalu Sheshe, disclosed that officers found the fish seller, identified as Ali Abubakar from the Kano Cooperative area, alongside a female companion, Fatima Abubakar, a 28-year-old woman from the Niger Republic, in a room where they were allegedly preparing to engage in immoral acts.
