THE Super Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn to play Madagascar, Guinea-Bissau and co-hosts Tanzania in Group L of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series.

The draw was held today in Cairo, Egypt, with the teams placed in 12 groups.

The Super Eagles are in a familiar group, having played against all three opponents in recent CAF competitions.

Guinea-Bissau met the Super Eagles in the group stage of the 2021 AFCON, and both sides were again drawn together during the qualifiers and group phase of the 2023 edition held in Côte d’Ivoire.

The Super Eagles also faced Tanzania in their opening group match of the 2025 AFCON, winning 2-1.

Madagascar, meanwhile, stunned the three-time African champions with a 2-0 defeat in the group stage of the 2019 AFCON.

For the 2027 qualification format, Tanzania— one of the co-hosts alongside Kenya and Uganda — will automatically qualify from Group L regardless of their finishing position.

Only one additional team from the group will join them at the finals.

Across the other groups, 11 additional pools were drawn, with the top two teams from each group earning tickets for the 24-team tournament, scheduled to take place from June 19 to July 17, 2027.

The qualifying matches will begin between September 21 and October 6, 2026.

Matchdays three and four are set for November 9 to November 17, 2026, while the final round of fixtures will be played between March 22 and March 30, 2027.

The Super Eagles finished third at the last AFCON after losing in the semi-finals on penalties to hosts Morocco.
