PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has commended Nigerian troops and security personnel for their commitment in combating terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of violent crime across the country.
In a message shared on his official X account today, the President described members of the Armed Forces and security agencies as the nation’s frontline defenders, protecting communities from threats to peace and stability.
According to Tinubu, security operatives continue to make significant sacrifices in difficult and often dangerous environments to ensure the safety of Nigerians.
He noted that personnel stationed in forests, along highways, at military bases, in the air, and across challenging terrains work tirelessly to safeguard lives and enable citizens to go about their daily activities without fear.
The President acknowledged that the battle against insecurity has come with immense challenges, including personal sacrifices and operational pressures. Despite these difficulties, he lauded the courage and dedication of security personnel, assuring them that their service remains valued by the nation.
Tinubu extended his appreciation to members of the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, intelligence agencies, local security outfits, and other stakeholders contributing to national security efforts.
He also recognized the sacrifices made by the families of security personnel, many of whom endure long periods of separation and emotional strain while their loved ones serve the country.
Paying tribute to officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, the President described their sacrifices as crucial to protecting communities and preserving national unity.
Tinubu urged citizens to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information, emphasizing that tackling terrorism and other security threats requires collective responsibility.
He stressed that security is not solely the responsibility of the military and law enforcement agencies, encouraging Nigerians to report suspicious activities that could help prevent criminal acts.
Reaffirming his administration’s determination to restore peace and security nationwide, the president declared that Nigeria would not yield to terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, or violent extremists.
He maintained that violence and extremism do not reflect the values or identity of Nigerians, regardless of their faith, ethnicity, or community affiliations.
The president concluded by expressing gratitude to security personnel for their vigilance, bravery, and continued service, while offering prayers for their safety as they carry out their duties.
Tinubu’s remarks come amid ongoing security challenges in several parts of the country, including incidents of terrorism, kidnapping, banditry, and communal violence.
Recent cases have included the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo and Borno states, attacks on rural communities, and kidnappings along major highways, further highlighting the security concerns facing the nation.
