THE Kebbi State Police Command has arrested seven suspected bandits as part of ongoing investigations into criminal activities in Bagudo Local Government Area, including the recent killing of three officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The arrests were disclosed in a statement issued yesterday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman.
According to the police, the suspects were apprehended during intelligence-led operations carried out on June 5, 2026, targeting criminal networks operating around the Soda Forest corridor and nearby border communities.
The command explained that operatives of the Mobile Police Force, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted three suspects travelling on a Haojue motorcycle along the Illo–Lolo Road.
Investigators believe the suspects were moving from the Soda Forest area to border communities to purchase food supplies for bandits hiding within the forest.
The motorcycle allegedly used in the operation was recovered by security personnel.
In a separate operation along the Bakin Ruwa–Ka’oje axis, security operatives arrested four additional suspects as part of efforts to intensify the crackdown on criminal elements operating in the area.
Police said all seven suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue to determine the extent of their involvement in criminal activities and any possible connection to recent security incidents, including the attack that resulted in the deaths of three FRSC officers.
Commenting on the development, the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, Umar Hadejia, described the arrests as a major breakthrough in the command’s ongoing campaign against banditry and other violent crimes.
He commended the officers involved in the operations for their professionalism and dedication, while also acknowledging members of the public whose timely and credible information contributed to the success of the arrests.
Hadejia reiterated the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing aimed at dismantling criminal networks, improving security, and restoring peace in affected communities across the state.
He further urged residents to remain vigilant and continue sharing useful information with security agencies, assuring them that all reports would be handled with strict confidentiality.
The police added that the suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
