Pa Adetunji Adeniyi, father of Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-styled Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), has cried out after police operatives raided his residence three times in two days, destroying property and arresting him in search of his son.
According to Pa Adeniyi, armed security personnel first stormed the family home at Plot 3, Adeniyi Dynasty, behind Technical College, Road Safety Area, Ogbomoso, on Monday by scaling the fence and damaging the barbed wire before forcing entry.
They conducted a thorough search of the house, including cupboards, and later returned twice — confiscating mobile phones and taking the elderly man into custody when he could not provide details of his son’s whereabouts in Abuja.
“I don’t know what my son did. They only said the government was looking for him,” Pa Adeniyi told BBC Yoruba.
“My son avoids trouble. Since childhood, he has never been someone who fights or causes problems. Everything they said he did is difficult for me to believe.”
The father described the experience as traumatising. “Even if one is brave, one would be afraid of what this is,” he said.
The raids come amid a growing scandal over the alleged “ghost” agency, which reportedly secured a N1.3 billion allocation in the 2026 budget despite the Presidency insisting it does not exist.
President Bola Tinubu has given the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) a 30-day ultimatum to investigate.
Adeyemi, speaking from hiding in a viral interview with VeryDarkMan, said he is ready to cooperate with investigators and provide documents.
Prominent voices have reacted strongly. Human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, condemned the “substituted arrest” of the father, noting Adeyemi had offered to appear in court.
SDP National Chairman Prof. Sadiq Gombe demanded the resignation of Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, while FCT Minister Nyesom Wike challenged Adeyemi to stop hiding and substantiate his claims.
