THE Federal Government has announced that the final evacuation flight for Nigerians wishing to return from South Africa will arrive in Lagos on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a total of 315 Nigerians are expected on the flight, which will be operated by Air Peace.

The aircraft is scheduled to depart South Africa at 1:30 a.m. and arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, by 6:30 a.m.

The announcement was made in a statement issued today by the ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa.

The evacuation exercise follows a series of xenophobic attacks and security concerns in parts of South Africa, prompting many Nigerians to request assistance to return home.

Before this final operation, the Federal Government had already carried out four evacuation flights, bringing back hundreds of Nigerians.

The most recent batch transported 40 returnees.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the evacuation programme was specifically for Nigerians who voluntarily indicated their desire to return home because of the security situation.

The ministry also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting the welfare of Nigerians abroad and expressed appreciation to all agencies and partners who contributed to the successful evacuation exercise.
