KOGI: Gunmen abduct four students, principal, NECO official during exam

GUNMEN have abducted four students, a school principal, and a National Examinations Council (NECO) ad hoc official during an attack on Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The incident occurred yesterday at about 5:25 p.m. while students were sitting for their NECO examination, according to the Kogi State Police Command.

Following the attack, security operatives, including the police and other agencies, launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation to locate the victims and apprehend those responsible.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kogi State, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, disclosed that one of the abducted students has been rescued, while efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining victims.

She also revealed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, alongside the Brigade Commander and the State Security Adviser to the Governor, Commodore Jerry Omodara (Rtd), were heading to the community to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.

The police assured the public that a more comprehensive statement would be issued as investigations progress and additional verified information becomes available.
