THE Department of State Services (DSS), in collaboration with other security agencies, has rescued the four remaining students of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, who were abducted in Zamfara State.
The students were kidnapped on June 3, 2026, after gunmen invaded their off-campus hostel in the Kaura Namoda community.
In a statement, the DSS said the victims were freed during a coordinated intelligence-led operation carried out without the payment of ransom.
The agency added that one suspected kidnapper was arrested, while several others were neutralised during the operation.
The rescued students were among six people abducted from the hostel. Two of the victims had earlier regained their freedom, while the remaining four stayed in captivity until the latest rescue operation.
According to the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, Yazid Abubakar, the attackers struck at about 4:00 a.m., storming the students’ residences in the Low-Cost Area of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area before taking the victims to an unknown location.
Following the abduction, security agencies intensified search-and-rescue efforts aimed at securing the victims’ safe release and bringing those responsible for the attack to justice.
The successful operation comes shortly after DSS operatives also rescued an abducted professor of Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Keffi, highlighting ongoing efforts by security agencies to tackle kidnapping and improve public safety.
