VETERAN sports journalist, Mumini Alao, has described the late founder and publisher of Complete Sports, Dr Emmanuel Sunny Ojeagbase, as a humanist.
Alao, who worked alongside Ojeagbase for over three decades, said the departed pioneer sports editor of The Guardian was a great human being who put humanity first in everything he did.
According to him, Ojeagbase was detribalised and paid no attention to religion, tribe or ethnicity.

Alao made this known in a radio interview with ace broadcaster, Mitchell Obi.
“Ojeagbase was a trailblazer as long as sports journalism is concerned. During our time, when we left school the only place for us to work was Complete Football magazine,” Alao said.
“Somebody like me, straight from the university, I joined him and I have been with him before he passed away on Saturday”.
He added, “Apart from being a trailblazer, Dr Ojeagbase from my personal relationship with him was a great man. He was a great human being who always put humanity first in his business, personal relationships, whatever.

“He was completely detribalised. Issues of religion, where you come from was never in his consideration when he dealt with people. He was kind and generous”.
Alao, who is the Group Managing Director, Complete Communications Limited, however, charged those he left behind to keep his legacy alive.
