RIVERS United scored first but were beaten on Sunday as they stumbled in their quest to win the Nigeria Professional Football League title.
The Port Harcourt side lost 2-1 at Kwara United, who turned the match around in the second half.
The visitors and league leaders took a third-minute lead through Nelso Esor but Samadi Kadiri levelled for Kwara United in the 57th minute before Jide Fatokun bagged the winning goal in the 75th minute.
Rivers United remain on top of the NPFL standings but passed up the opportunity to open up a seven-point gap on second-placed Plateau United, who also lost on Saturday.
Kwara United moved up to fifth place with the win.
In Akure, Sunshine Stars could not get the better of their visitors from Ibadan, Shooting Stars Sports Club, as the South West derby ended 0-0.
In Lagos, MFM stayed bottom of the pile after a 0-0 draw with Rangers, as the Enugu side maintained fourth spot.
Heartland continued their battle for survival with a 2-1 home win over Eastern neighbours Abia Warriors. The Naze Millionaires moved to within one point of safety.
In the other NPFL fixtures on Sunday, Lobi Stars defeated Nasarawa United 2-1, Remo Stars beat Wikki Tourists 1-0 and Katsina United overcame Akwa United 1-0.
