THE Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, has stated that officers of the Airforce participating in the 2023 general election in all of its units will undertake special training known as realistic pre-induction training.

Amao addressed this during a meeting at NAF Headquarters in Abuja with Branch Chiefs, Air Officers Commanding, Commandants, and Unit Commanders as revealed in a statement by Air Commodore Wap Maigida, the Air Force’s spokesperson.

Amao also urged his men to maintain an apolitical stance before, during, and after the elections.

The statement partly reads, “As Nigerians prepare to go to the polls, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, charged personnel of the Nigerian Air Force to remain apolitical throughout the elections.

“Amao, urged the Commanders to sensitise NAF personnel on the Code of Conduct for Armed Forces of Nigeria during elections, while also reminding them to be apolitical, particularly now that the elections are close.”

“NAF personnel are expected to work in synergy with other security agencies within their respective Areas of Responsibilities to ensure peaceful conduct of the forthcoming general elections,” he said.

The CAS emphasized that helping the Independent National Electoral Commission airlift election materials to various regions of the nation is a key part of NAF’s duties to offer aid to civil authority.

Amao also ordered field commanders to maintain the pace of operations and the onslaught against terrorists in all of the country’s operational theatres.

According to him, given recent events in the nation, it is now crucial for officers to refrain from any actions or statements that can damage the Service’s reputation.
