ADEMOLA Lookman is undergoing his medical tests at Atletico Madrid after the Spanish club agreed a €40 million deal with Atalanta for the Super Eagles forward.
The Nigeria international arrived in Madrid yesterday after Atletico beat Fenerbahce to his signature, having reached an agreement to pay Atalanta €35m in fixed fee and €5m in add-ons.
“Atlético de Madrid and Atalanta have reached an agreement over the transfer of Ademola Lookman, 28-year-old Nigerian international forward who is already in Madrid,” Atletico announced last night.
“The agreement is subject to passing his medical and agreeing and formalizing his contract.”
The move is expected to be completed today, with Lookman signing a long-term contract with the LaLiga side, currently the third biggest club in Spain.
The Super Eagles star will be playing in his fourth top European league after featuring in England, where he was born, for Everton, Leicester City and Fulham, Germany for RB Leipzig and Italy got Atalanta.
Lookman has registered 55 goals (including a historic hat-trick in the 2023-2024 UEFA Europa League final) and 27 assists in 137 appearances in all competitions for Atalanta, who he joined from RB Leipzig for €11m in August 2022.
