AUSTRIA and Algeria were the final two teams to advance to the 2026 FIFA World Cup round of 32 after a 3-3 draw in Kansas City in the early hours of today.
The result sent Iran out of the tournament, as all the round of 32 fixtures were confirmed.
Iran needed either Algeria or Austria to win to move on to the knockout phase for the first time, but a late strike sealed a point for Austria.
Moments earlier, Democratic Republic of Congo secured their round of 32 spot by coming from behind to beat Uzbekistan 3-1 and finish third in their group.
