Osimhen collapses during Napoli defeat, taken to hospital

NIGERIA striker Victor Osimhen required treatment and on Sunday night as Napoli fell 4-2 to Atalanta in Serie A.

The Super Eagles centre forward did not score any of his side’s two goals, meaning he has now gone five games without scoring since his return from injury and a positive COVID-19 test.

However, more importantly, the 22-year-old caused some anxiety in the ground late into the game as he collapsed and was stretchered off after falling on his head following a tackle.

Sky Sports in Italy reported that he was rushed to the hospital after losing consciousness during the game.

However, he thankfully regained consciousness and became alert shortly afterwards.

Incidentally, Osimhen was also taken straight to the hospital in an ambulance in November while on international duty.

The striker scored one of the goals in Nigeria’s dramatic 4-4 draw with Sierra Leone in Benin City but he broke his shoulder in the second half and was driven off in an ambulance.

He missed several weeks of action due to the injury and only returned in late January.
