Iheanacho rescues Leicester again, scores and assists in win over Palace

KELECHI Iheanacho once again made the difference for Leicester City on Monday night, playing a big role in their come-from-behind 2-1 Premier League win over Crystal Palace at the King Power Stadium.

The Super Eagles forward assisted Leicester City’s equaliser for Timothy Castagne and scored the wonderful winner to keep the Foxes in third place.

Visitors Palace started brightly and took an early lead in the 12th minute through Wilfried Zaha, who was set up by Nigerian midfielder Eberechi Eze with a defence-splitting pass.

The Eagles took the lead into half-time, but Leicester City were quick out of the blocks after the break.

Five minutes into the second half, Iheanacho took down a long pass and laid a simple pass for Castagne to finish for the equaliser.

Iheanacho could have had two more assists, but Jamie Vardy and Youri Tielemans fired over after being cleverly set up by the Nigerian.

The Nigeria international then eventually got the goal his performance deserved in the 80th minute, controlling another long pass before shifting the ball past two defenders and unleashing a rocket from a tight angle into the roof of the net.

The goal was Iheanacho’s 10th in the Premier League this season, his best return in the league in his professional career.

He has also scored nine Premier League goals since March 1, more than any othe player in the competition, Harry Kane coming closest with seven.

More impressively, Iheanacho has scored 14 goals in his last 14 appearances in all competitions, as many as he managed in his previous 76 games for the Foxes, making him the most prolific player in the English top flight in the last few weeks.

The win kept Leicester City in third place with 62 points from 33 matches, four ahead of fourth-placed Chelsea and seven better off than fifth-placed West Ham.
