CHIGOZIE Obi, Chukwudi Onwumere, Mobolaji Ogunrosoye, Nyancho NwaNri, and, Omoregie Osakpolor have been unveiled as the finalists in the ArtX Prize 2021.

The organisers said the finalists will participate in a Finalists Forum, a two-day intensive programme designed to support the artists in their creative practice, and as well as to prepare them for their final presentations to the jury.

The workshops will be facilitated by a dynamic group of Nigerian creatives including writer Maryam Kazeem, artist Kelani Abass, curator and artist Jumoke Sanwo, and artist Wura-Natasha Ogunji, this year’s Access Bank ArtX Prize curator.

The winner of the Access Bank ART X Prize 2021 will be announced shortly thereafter.

About the Prize

The ART X Prize is Nigeria’s leading art prize for emerging artists. Currently focussed on Nigeria, the prize aims to bolster the efforts of emerging artists, who have demonstrated a commitment to careers as professional visual artists. In the absence of infrastructure that exists in other international centres for contemporary art, the ART X Prize was launched in partnership with Access Bank to contribute to the burgeoning contemporary art sector in Nigeria.

In 2019, the Prize was renamed the Access Bank ART X Prize, and now provides funding, tailored mentoring support, and a residency opportunity in collaboration with Gasworks, to exceptional emerging artists, enabling them to complete ambitious projects that challenge the expectations of local and global audiences.
