SUBMISSION window for the 2023 AKO Caine Prize for African Writing has been declared open and will close January 26, 2023, according to administrators of the annual award project, dedicated to rewarding the “best original short story by an African Writer.”
A release from the administrators stated that the award is open to all shades of African writers from across the world. It encourages would-be participants to visit the award’s website to fill the online entry form and submit via same portal.
“The winner is awarded £10,000 and four shortlisted writers will each receive £500.”
The AKO Caine Prizeis open to all African writers “whether residing in Africa or elsewhere, published in the English language,” stated the release signed by Lerato Zwane, administrative assistant for the Prize project.
“In addition to administering the Prize, we work to connect readers with African writers through a series of public events, as well as helping emerging writers in Africa to enter the world of mainstream publishing through the annual Caine Prize writers’ workshop which takes place in a different African country each year.”
