NIGERIA’S Olympic Eagles will now host Guinea at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Wednesday, March 22 in the final round of qualifiers for this year’s U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.

The clash was initially scheduled for the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan but the date is unchanged.

To reach the final qualifying round, the Nigerian side defeated Tanzania 3-1 on aggregate in October 2022, winning 2-0 at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan after the first leg in Dar es Salaam had ended 1-1.

The winners over two legs between Nigeria and Guinea will advance to the U-23 Cup of Nations scheduled for Morocco in June.

It is also at the tournament in Morocco that Africa’s representatives at the Paris 2024 Olympics men’s football event will emerge.

The return leg against the Guineans will be in Morocco five days after the first leg in Abuja.

Nigeria are Africa’s most successful team in men’s football at the Olympics, winning the continent’s first gold in 1996 in Atlanta, United States of America and earning silver in 2008 in Beijing, China and bronze in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
