ARSENAL pair Bukayo Saka and Mikel Arteta have been named the Player of the Month and the Manager of the Month respectively for March in the Premier League.
Saka, the England international born to Nigerian parents, is winning the award for the first time ever.
The 21-year-old forward earned the prize after scoring three goals and providing two assists in four appearances during the month, helping Arsenal win every match.
Saka topped a six-man shortlist that also included Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister, Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Arsenal team-mate Leandro Trossard.
He won after the public’s votes on the EA SPORTS website were combined with those of a panel of football experts.
On his part, Arteta has won the manager prize for the fourth time this season, moving just one behind Jurgen Klopp’s record of five in a single campaign, set in 2019/20.
The Spaniard previously claimed the award in August, November/December and January.
Arteta guided the Gunners to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to eight points above Manchester City in March as Arsenal won all their four games against Everton, Bournemouth, Fulham and Crystal Palace, scoring 14 goals.
He beat fellow nominees Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton, Unai Emery of Aston Villa and Pep Guardiola of Manchester City after votes from the public were combined with those of a panel of experts.
