VICTOR Osimhen is facing a race against time to reach full fitness for next week’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg between Napoli and AC Milan.

The Serie A leaders will travel to Milan Wednesday next week for the first leg of the tie before hosting the current Italian title holders six days later.

Osimhen, the top scorer in Serie with 21 goals from 23 appearances, missed last weekend’s humiliating 4-0 defeat at home to Milan in a dress rehearsal for the Champions League tie.

The Nigeria international is battling with an adductor injury and underwent treatment at Napoli’s facility today.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Friday will be a key date to know whether the Super Eagles striker will be available for the Champions League next week.

Napoli confirmed today that their star striker underwent therapies in the morning at the club’s training centre in Castel Volturno.

According to Sky Sport Italia, this means the 24-year-old star might not be ready for Napoli’s Serie A trip to Lecce on Friday.

Friday will also be a key date to know whether Osimhen will be available against Milan next week.

Napoli’s correspondent Massimo Ugolini insisted that the club will ‘need a miracle’ to have the striker back against the AC Milan at San Siro Wednesday next week.
