BAUCHI: Eight dead, seven injured in fatal crash

THE state Command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps has revealed that eight individuals died and seven others were injured in a single crash in Bauchi State.

According to the state FRSC command’s FIR release by Sector Commander Yusuf Abdullahi, the accident involved a grey VW Sharon mini bus with vehicle registration number BCH 465 XA that belongs to the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers’ fleet that was operated for commercial purposes.

The investigation revealed that the deadly incident happened near Kili village on the Darazo – Kari Federal Highway yesterday at 12:03 p.m. while emergency responders arrived on the scene for the rescue effort at about 12:10 p.m.

“The total number of people involved in the crash was 15 made up of four male adults, six female adults, two male children, and three female children,” the statement said.

According to the FIR, the injured individuals were one male adult, four female adults, and two female children while three male adults, two female adults, two male children, and one female child were the eight that died in the tragedy.

Furthermore, the injuries were bruising, a head injury, and a fracture, and the likely cause of the incident was tyre bursts, while some personal effects were recovered from the scene and the obstruction was cleared.

The bodies and injured were taken to the General Hospital in Darazo for identification and medical treatment. Following that, the rescue crew, lead by the rescuer, SMI E Madu, successfully returned to the Base.
