THE Super Eagles have climbed in the global FIFA ranking but have maintained their position in Africa.
According to the ranking released today by FIFA, they rose one spot from 40th in the world to 39th and are sixth in Africa, the same position they held on the continent last week.
The Nigerian side gained six points on their previous tally, going from 1480 to 1486, after winning their last Africa Cup of Nations qualifier 3-2 over Sierra Leone in Monrovia, Liberia in June.
Qatar 2022 World Cup semi-finalists Morocco have retained the top placing in the African ranking for the third time running, but dropped two spots in the world from 11th to 13th.
Continental champions Senegal (18th in the world), Tunisia (31st in the world), Algeria (33rd in the world) and Egypt (34th in the world) make up the African top five.
Argentina remain No.1 in the world, with the top three also unchanged as France and Brazil stay in second and third spots.
England moved up from fifth to fourth, replacing Belgium who dropped to fifth.
Croatia, The Netherlands, Italy, Portugal and Spain are the rest of the top 10.
