VICTOR Osimhen has picked up from where left off last season by netting twice in Napoli’s 4-0 victory over Haytaspor today.
The Super Eagles striker scored the first two goals in the pre-season friendly against the Turkish side, with Giovanni Simeone adding the other two for the Serie A champions.
Osimhen, who scored 26 Serie A goals last season and emerged as the league’s top scorer as Napoli won their first Scudetto in 33 years, opened the scoring today in the 23rd minute.
After forcing an early save, Osimhen broke the deadlock, netting as Matteo Politano sent him through on goal.
The Nigeria international added a second four minutes later, racing onto Kvicha Kvaratskhelia’s through ball to produce a composed finish.
Osimhen was close to a hat-trick but his third goal was disallowed for offside.
Napoli’s new head coach Rudi Garcia changed all 11 players at the same time on the hour mark, with Osimhen showing the Frenchman his high value.
Another Nigerian, Michael Folorunsho, was among the raft of substitutes and he had a shot saved, but it was Simeone who stole the show with his own brace in the 64th and 70th minutes.
