ARSENAL earned their second win of the new English Premier League campaign tonight, beating Crystal Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park despite playing the final 30 minutes with 10 men.

Martin Ordegaard netted from the penalty spot while Takehiro Tomiyasu was sent off for a second yellow card as the Gunners hung on to maintain their perfect start to the season.

After a first half in which Arsenal’s best chances were fluffed by Eddie Nketiah, the visitors got their reward eight minutes into the second half when the English striker was brought down in the Palace box by goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

Captain Odegaard stepped forward to take the spot kick and he sent Johnstone the wrong way.

Tomiyasu was dismissed 14 minutes after the goal after being shown his second yellow card for fouling Ghana forward Jordan Ayew.

The Gunners were kept on the back foot for the rest of the encounter but they held on for the win to add to the three points they secured last week at home to Nottingham Forest.

In Italy, Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze made his first competitive appearance for AC Milan as they defeated Bologna 2-0 in their opening Serie A fixture of the season.

The 24-year-old Nigeria international, who joined Milan in July for €20m from Villarreal, was a 74th minute substitute for Christian Pulisic, who scored the second goal in the first half after Olivier Giroud had opened the scoring.
