VICE President Kashim Shettima estimates that Nigeria needs N21 trillion to address the housing need.
He stated this during the groundbreaking for a housing development with 500 units that the government of Sokoto State planned to build.
The Director in the Office of the Vice President, Olusola Abiola, made a statement that Senator Shettima cites as stating that Nigeria has a housing deficit of 28 million home.
However, he commended Sokoto state Governor Ahmed Aliyu for his efforts to address the housing needs of his people.
The project located in the Wamakko Local Government Area of the state will cost the state government the sum of N7.3 billion.
Governor Aliyu says the housing estate will be for civil servants and will be sold to them when completed on an owner-occupier basis.
