SUPER Eagles winger Moses Simon scored the only goal of the game today to earn Nantes a 1-0 victory against Clement Foot in their Ligue 1 clash, while Chelsea were held to a 0-0 draw at Bournemouth in the English Premier League.
Moses struck three minutes into the second half to secure Nantes their first win of the French top flight season and take them to 15th in the table with five points from five games.
The Nigeria international scored with an audacious chip from distance over the stranded Clement Foot goalkeeper, who was well off his line.
Clement Foot, who finished eighth last season, are yet to taste victory in five games this term.
Simon, 28, has contributed one goal and one assist to Nantes’ haul this new season.
In England, Chelsea’s stuttering start to the campaign under new manager Mauricio Pochettino continued today as they were held by Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
Although the much more accomplished visitors, who have spent around £1 billion in transfers in less than two years, had more of the ball, both sides had decent chances to snatch the three points.
Despite their heavy investment in the squad, Chelsea have only scored five goals in the Premier League so far this season – their fewest after five games of a top-flight campaign since 1995-96 (also five), when they finished 11th, according to Opta statistics.
Also, since Graham Potter won his first two Premier League away games in charge of Chelsea, they have only managed two more victories in 16 away matches in the competition (five draws and nine defeats).
The Blues are currently 14th in the table with five points from five matches, one place and two points ahead of Bournemouth.
