SINGER Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems, has finally debunked the speculations of being pregnant for United States rapper and singer, Nayvadius DeMun Cash, known professionally as Future.
The Grammy Award winner clarified during a chat with American podcaster, Angela Martinez of Power 105.1 FM, New York, on a radio show, where she was asked a series of questions including speculated pregnancy, and jail term in Uganda among others
Recall that in September this year, Tems who received an Oscar nomination sparked pregnancy rumour online following a video showing her supposedly protruding belly, whilst making an appearance at Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2024 London Fashion Week presentation.
Elegantly dressed in a black gown, complemented by a lush purple coat and coordinated heels, observers couldn’t help but speculate about a possible pregnancy, given how the dress accentuated her figure. Fans wasted no time in jumping to conclusions, weaving a web of pregnancy rumours, firmly believing she’s in the family way with Future’s baby.
Speaking about the speculated pregnancy during the podcast, the Me & U singer said the speculation was a misconception from her outfit, stressing that she had tucked her blouse into her pants, which accentuated her slightly protruding belly.
According to her, she had indulged in a hearty meal on the day, which possibly explained the unexpected expansion of her belly. She stated that the pregnancy rumours circulated just two days after her appearance at the fashion week presentation, when her immediate family members, including her mother, began probing for information.
The pregnancy hunch about Tems and Future took flight after she lit up the internet receiving a bouquet of white flowers from the American rapper to celebrate their Grammy victory in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category.
Recounting her ordeal in Uganda prison, Tems claimed “the whole thing was a setup,” and humorously remarked that she was as perplexed as a cat in a dog show.
Tems and Omah Lay were arrested and brought before a Ugandan court and subsequently detained in a prison for making an appearance at a concert held in the country at Speke Resort, Kampala, on Saturday, December 12, 2020 despite COVID-19 social distancing regulations.
