SUPER Eagles of Nigeria stars Ademola Lookman and Victor Boniface will be facing English clubs in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League, the draw today revealed.
Lookman’s Atalanta got the toughest draw possible as they are up against favourites Liverpool, who advanced to the quarter-finals with an 11-2 demolition of Sparta Prague in the round of 16.
Atalanta progressed past Sporting Lisbon 3-2 on aggregate, with Lookman scoring the Serie A side’s first goal in their come-from-behind 2-1 second leg victory last night.
Boiface’s Bayer Leverkusen, who are yet to lose a single game in all competitions this season, will battle UEFA Europa Conference League holders West Ham in the Europa League quarter-finals.
The Super Eagles striker has been injured since the turn of the year after an impressive start to his Bayer Leverkusen career, but he is back in training and should be available to play for the German Bundesliga leaders against the Hammers.
In the other quarter-final ties, Benfica will face Marseille while there will be an all-Italian clash between AS Roma and AC Milan, who have Super Eagles of Nigeria forward Samuel Chukwueze in their squad.
In the semi-finals, the winners of the Atalanta versus Liverpool tie will be up against Marseille or Benfica, with Leverkusen or West Ham playing Roma or Milan.
