EDO: Police arrest two suspected abductors, killers of missing girl

TWO persons are currently being held by the Edo State Police Command regarding the disappearance and death of a second-year student of Delta State University of Science and Technology, Agbor, Faith Omodon.

According to reports residents of Iru Egbede community in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State had raised concerns about the sudden disappearance of the student, who was pursuing a degree in Business Administration at DELSU, on March 30.

The girl’s father, Edward Omodon, explained that she was last seen on that day when she left home for the farm on a motorcycle during the community’s national conference.

Recent updates reveal that the community’s vigilante group apprehended and handed over two suspects linked to the disappearance.

The National Youth Chairman of Iru-Egbede, Donald Isioma, shared that the arrests took place on Saturday afternoon after tracking the deceased’s phone to the suspects.

Isioma mentioned that one of the suspects, a community member, admitted to the crime during questioning at Okpaihe Police Station before the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Benin.

Isioma added, “The police have recovered the phone from the suspects and the motorbike Omodon rode to the farm on the day she went missing.

“One of the suspects who is a member of the community has confessed that they had killed the girl while being interrogated at the Okpaihe Police Station before the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Benin.”

The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, stated that he had not received official information about the arrests but assured that he would follow up with the SCID.

As of the latest update yesterday evening, he had not done so.
