THE former Health Commissioner of Taraba state during Governor Darius Ishaku’s tenure has passed away.
Dr. Innocent Vakkai died at the Federal Medical Centre in Jalingo, Taraba state on Friday, May 3 after a short illness.
Vakkai served on the Taraba State Executive Council from 2015 to 2023.
The former governor confirmed his passing in a statement yesterday, lauding Vakkai’s dedication and hard work.
The governor expressed sorrow and stressed Vakkai’s contributions to healthcare and infrastructure development during his time in office.
The current Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, also expressed shock at Vakkai’s death and commended his commitment to public service, particularly during the Covid-19 crisis.
Kefas offered condolences to Vakkai’s family and acknowledged the significant impact he had both professionally and personally.
He prayed for Vakkai’s soul rest in peace and for strength for his loved ones during this difficult time.
