PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has expressed his sympathies to the government and people of Kano State following the fire that killed some worshippers at a mosque in Larabar Abasawa, Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday, Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, denounced the act and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.

Reports reveal that a family quarrel over an alleged inheritance share led to the deaths of several people in the Larabar-Albasawa hamlet on the outskirts of Gezawa, the headquarters of Kano State’s Gezawa LGA.

Shafiu Abubakar is said to have set fire to a mosque when attendees were observing the early morning prayer about 5:30 a.m.

The suspect is believed to have sprayed the mosque area with petroleum, shut the entrance, and set it on fire, trapping approximately 40 attendees inside.

President Tinubu condemned the arson that resulted in this unfortunate incident and instructed law enforcement authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and punishment of the suspects.

“President Tinubu commiserates with the bereaved families, all those affected, and prays for quick recovery for the wounded,” said the statement.
