SUNDAY Oliseh has expressed sadness at Borussia Dortmund losing the UEFA Champions League final to Real Madrid last night but commended the winners.

Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior scored late at Wembley to give Real Madrid a 2-0 victory against the German side, who dominated most of the clash and missed big chances to score in the first half.

It is serial winners Real Madrid’s 15th UEFA Champions League title and their sixth in the last 10 years, with former Super Eagles captain and head coach Oliseh praising the Spanish giants’ ‘quality’ and Carlos Ancelotti’s coaching abilities.

“Sad that my club BVB Dortmund could not lift the Champions League trophy today after putting up a good fight,” Oliseh posted on X last night, moments after the final.

“But the quality of the Real Madrid players and the tactical and personnel changes Carlo Ancelotti made in the second half made the difference. And Camavinga?”

Oliseh, who won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations and the Atlanta ’96 Olympics men’s football gold with Nigeria, played for Borussia Dortmund between 2000 and 2004, winning the Bundesliga title with them in 2001.
