The Lagos State inquest into the death of 26-year-old singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, was adjourned today, Friday. Coroner Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi stated that a verdict will be delivered at a later date.

During the session held at the Magistrates’ Court in Ikorodu, the final witness, forensic pathologist Dr. Uwom Eze, who conducted a second autopsy on Mohbad, testified that there were no signs of hard drug use. Instead, he revealed that the late artist had received regulated doses of antihistamines and painkillers, indicating that he was in pain prior to his death.

Dr. Eze noted that the injection Mohbad received could not be properly assessed due to a lack of information and the advanced decomposition of the body. He described the injury on the singer’s arm as superficial, stating, “Even a newborn wouldn’t die from it.”

While he could not determine an exact cause of death, the pathologist suggested that a severe and rapid allergic reaction to a substance administered by injection was a likely cause. He also mentioned the possibility of “medical misadventure” in the nurse’s handling of Mohbad during questioning by the family’s lawyer, Wahab Shittu (SAN).

Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, after receiving an injection at his Lekki home and subsequently suffering a sudden convulsion
