THE Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has welcomed the defection of eight lawmakers from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress at the National Assembly in Abuja.

This development was disclosed in a statement issued today by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, who noted that the lawmakers attributed their decision to ongoing internal challenges within the NNPP.

The defectors include Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, Garba Ibrahim Diso, Hassan Shehu Hussain, Idris Dankawu, Muhammad Chiroma Nalaraba, Rabiu Yusuf, Dr. Ghali Mustapha Tijjani, and Muhammad Bello Shehu.

According to the statement, the event was attended by prominent political figures, including former APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin.

Governor Yusuf described the defections as part of the normal democratic process, emphasizing that political shifts are common in a vibrant political system.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering good governance to the people of Kano State, regardless of political affiliations.

He also called for unity and collaboration among elected officials to ensure the overall progress and development of the state.
