THE President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has congratulated President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Muslims in Nigeria and around the world on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging citizens to embrace sacrifice, unity, and prayers for the country’s progress.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio described Eid-el-Kabir as a significant reminder of the values of faith, obedience, and selflessness demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.
According to him, the occasion highlights the importance of devotion and sacrifice, virtues he said are urgently needed in Nigeria at this time.
Akpabio, speaking on behalf of his family, constituents, and the National Assembly, extended his goodwill to President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima, and Muslim faithful, expressing hope that the spirit of compassion, generosity, and sacrifice associated with the celebration would strengthen peace and unity across the country.
He also encouraged Nigerians to support the less privileged and continue showing love and tolerance to people of different faiths, noting that such acts reflect the true spirit of national unity.
The Senate President further urged citizens to use the festive period to pray for peace, security, and economic prosperity, while remembering security personnel fighting insurgency and farmers affected by insecurity.
He added that Nigeria, like Prophet Ibrahim, is currently going through a challenging period, stressing that the sacrifices citizens make through patience, tolerance, and hope would shape the future of the nation.
Akpabio noted that the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration, alongside the support of the National Assembly, is rooted in the belief that meaningful national development requires collective sacrifice from all Nigerians.
He concluded by praying for Allah to accept the sacrifices and prayers of the faithful and grant Nigeria lasting peace, healing, and prosperity.
