THE Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has resigned from the All Progressives Congress, citing recent political developments within the party in Delta State.

The former senator announced his resignation in a statement released through his Media Adviser, Sunday Areh, explaining that the decision came after consultations with his political associates and supporters.

According to Omo-Agege, his political ambitions and the interests of the people of Delta Central would be better pursued outside the APC.

He stated that he could no longer remain in a political party where he was unable to effectively advance the interests of his constituents and the wider Delta State.

In the resignation letter dated May 22, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, the former lawmaker said recent happenings within the party made it clear that his goals no longer aligned with the APC’s direction in the state.

He stressed that he would not remain “a sitting duck” in a party where he could not adequately pursue the development and political interests of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria as a whole.

Despite his exit, Omo-Agege expressed gratitude to the APC for giving him the platform to serve as Deputy President of the 9th Senate. He also wished the party success in its future political activities.

The former senator further revealed that he had requested the removal of his name from all APC membership registers and communication platforms, noting that his resignation takes immediate effect.

Omo-Agege reaffirmed his commitment to public service and development, maintaining that he would continue to pursue the interests of Delta Central and the country outside the APC.
