POLAND scored in added time of both halves to hold the Super Eagles of Nigeria to a 2-2 draw in a friendly match tonight in Warsaw.
Goals by Terem Moffi and Paul Onuachu in each half gave the Super Eagles the lead but late strikes by the hosts ensured they avoided defeat to the three-time African champions.
With the result, the Super Eagles, who were without top stars Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, extended their unbeaten run in open play to 12 matches.
The opening goal on the night arrived in the 23rd minute, as Moses Simon set up Terem Moffi for a simple tap-in after receiving a fine pass from captain Wilfred Ndidi in a smooth Super Eagles move.
The effort was initially ruled out, but the video assistant referee (VAR) called the attention of the referee and eventually awarded the goal.
Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye was alert to save a close one from Karol Swiderski in the 28th minute as Poland sought the equaliser, and the hosts came close again in the 37th minute but Igoh Ogbu foiled a good cross from the right.
The Super Eagles could have been up by two goals in the 40th minute, only for Tochukwu Nnadi to see his angled drive thwarted by goalkeeper Kamil Grabara.
Poland had a corner in added time of the first half, and from the goalmouth melee, Kacper Potulski slid the ball past Okoye for the equaliser.
The Super Eagles started the second half brightly, but substitute Raphael Onyedika swept the ball over the bar from a promising move initiated by youngster Abdullah Bewene in the 56th minute.
Bewene was impressive on his debut at right-back, and was also involved in the 73rd minute when Zaidu Sanusi’s crisp shot from another great team move was punched away by Poland goalkeeper Grabara.
Three minutes later, a penalty was awarded to the Super Eagles after a VAR review, and Paul Onuachu converted.
Just when it looked like the Super Eagles had secured two wins in two matches against Poland, Przemyslaw Wiśniewski fired a rocket of shot past Okoye from 25 yards to ensure honours were shared on the night.
Next up for the Super Eagles is another friendly against Portugal in Leiria on Wednesday next week.
The match is Portugal’s final game before their participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
