JOY Omewa and Asisat Oshoala were on target as the Super Falcons of Nigeria defeated Senegal 3-0 in Ikenne-Remo in a warm-up friendly for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations today.
The 10-time African champions produced a commanding second-half performance to secure the win, three days after beating the same Senegal 2-1.
After a tense and scoreless first half, the Super Falcons found their scoring boots to secure a convincing win in front of their home supporters.
The match kicked off with immediate intensity as the Super Falcons earned an early set-piece taken by captain Rasheedat Ajibade in the first minute, but the opportunity wasted.
The Super Falcons continued to press, with forward Omewa narrowly missing another opportunity moments later, while Gift Monday hit the post after rounding the Senegal goalkeeper.
The breakthrough finally arrived three minutes into the second half, as Shukurat Oladipo delivered a precise cross that Omewa met with a decisive header to give the Super Falcons a deserved lead.
Buoyed by the opener, the Super Falcons grew in confidence and control. Omewa doubled the advantage in the 55th minute, muscling her way through the Teranga Lionesses’ backline before finishing with composure for her second of the match.
The Super Falcons’ dominance was further underlined in the 66th minute when Ajibade went on a surging run and laid on an assist for substitute Oshoala, who had replaced Omewa, to slot home and make it 3-0.
The Super Falcons will be defending their WAFCON crown in Morocco in July.
