ZAMFARA: Gov Lawal reshuffles cabinet, appoints new agency heads

THE Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle involving three commissioners and announced new appointments to key government agencies as part of efforts to enhance governance and improve service delivery across the state.

According to a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Suleman Ahmad Tudu, the changes are intended to strengthen the administration’s operations and advance its development agenda.

The Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, explained that the redeployments were designed to improve efficiency within critical ministries and support the effective implementation of the government’s Rescue Agenda.

Under the new arrangement, Abdulrahman Tumbido has been moved from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.

Kasimu Yahya Kaura, who previously headed the Environment and Natural Resources Ministry, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

Meanwhile, Tasiu Musa Shinkafi has been transferred from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The state government said the changes take immediate effect, directing the affected commissioners to complete their handover processes within one week.

Governor Lawal also approved the appointment of Dr. Muhammad Habibu Yelwa as Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Substance Abuse and Control Agency and Dr. Usman Ismaila Gusau as Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Livestock Agency.

In addition, Abdullahi Mohammed Nakwada has been reappointed as the State Project Coordinator of the Zamfara State Agricultural and Community Development Project (ZACADEP).

The government noted that the appointments are aimed at strengthening ongoing reforms and improving service delivery in key sectors, including public health, agriculture, livestock development, and community-focused initiatives.

Nakwada urged the newly appointed officials to demonstrate innovation, commitment, and dedication in carrying out their responsibilities to support the administration’s development objectives.
