THE Delta State Government has refuted rumours circulating on social media claiming that former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has died, describing the reports as entirely false.

The clarification was issued yesterday by the Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Ossai Success, following growing concerns and inquiries from members of the public over the unverified reports.

According to Ossai, he immediately contacted Uduaghan’s family to verify the claim and was assured that the former governor is alive and in good health.

He noted that he spoke directly with Uduaghan’s daughter, Orode Uduaghan, who confirmed that the reports were untrue.

In a statement shared on his social media platform, Ossai said many people had reached out to him seeking confirmation after seeing online posts alleging the former governor’s death.

He explained that after speaking with the family, it became clear that the information being circulated was fabricated.

He condemned the spread of unverified reports, noting that false announcements about a person’s death can cause significant emotional distress to family members, friends, and supporters.

Ossai described the act as irresponsible and urged social media users to exercise caution before sharing information whose authenticity has not been confirmed.

He further appealed to the public to disregard the rumour, stressing that Uduaghan remains alive and well.

He emphasized the importance of respecting individuals and ensuring that information shared online is properly verified to avoid causing unnecessary panic and pain.

The government aide reiterated that there is no truth to the claims and called on residents and the wider public to refrain from spreading misinformation.
