MANCHESTER City have confirmed that they have reached agreement with Nottingham Forest for the purchase of Elliot Anderson.
The deal is reported to be worth a record £116 million for the England international midfielder.
“Manchester City and Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement for the transfer of Elliot Anderson,” the English Premier League club stated today.
“Anderson, 23, is currently competing at the FIFA World Cup with England and has completed a medical in Kansas. The formalities of the move will be finalised upon his return to England.
“In the meantime, everyone at Manchester City wishes Elliot and the England squad the very best of luck in their World Cup campaign and we look forward to welcoming him to Manchester in due course.”
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are on course to break their transfer record for a second time this week after agreeing a deal worth up to £100m with Newcastle United for Italy midfielder Sandro Tonali.
Spurs previously had a bid of about £80m rejected by Newcastle, but are now set to pay an initial £92.5m plus a further £7.5m in add-ons for the 26-year-old.
Tottenham manager Roberto de Zerbi is believed to a long-time admirer of his fellow Italian.
De Zerbi identified Tonali as a target during his time in charge of Sassuolo several years ago when the midfielder was playing in Serie A.
Spurs will now pay even more than the £85m agreement struck with West Ham this week for midfielder Mateus Fernandes in order to bring Tonali to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
