THE Kano State Fire Service has revealed that it responded to 30 fire outbreaks across the state in June, resulting in the deaths of five people and the destruction of property valued at more than ₦120.4 million.

According to the agency’s operational report for June, property worth approximately ₦481.8 million was successfully saved from the incidents.

The report, released on Monday by the Fire Service Public Relations Officer, Saminu Abdullahi, also disclosed that the agency carried out seven rescue operations, responded to one false alarm, and rescued three people from various emergencies.

Speaking on the report, the Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, urged residents to take greater care when handling fire to prevent avoidable incidents. He advised the public to ensure that all sources of fire are completely extinguished after use.

Anas also called on parents and guardians to closely monitor their children, warning them against playing near puddles, ponds, rivers, and uncovered wells to reduce the risk of drowning, particularly among children and young people.

He reaffirmed the Fire Service’s commitment to protecting lives and property through prompt emergency response, increased public safety awareness, and stronger community cooperation.
