The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed personnel across the country to deal decisively with those bearing illegal firearms.
He urged them to apply Force Order 327 to end the loss of service personnel when they encounter criminal to ensure peace is restored in Benue.
Disu gave the order at the IGP town hall meeting with Governor Hyacinth Alia in Makurdi the Benue state capital as part of his operational visits, following the spate of killings across the state.
The IGP listened to participants who raised key points on the motive the attack in Benue has assumed while also questioning why the police fail to arrest security threats where intelligence are made available
The IGP in addressing these concerns, directed police personnel to engage criminal bearing arms without any specific order as Force Order 327 insulates them and innocent persons from attacks.
He also tasked youths in Benue State to work with the police on intelligence gathering against all forms for criminality as the police will deal with criminal irrespective of their demography.
