Chelsea have announced the sacking of their manager Thomas Tuchel after a run of poor results.
The side have struggled this new season, losing two of their opening six Premier League fixtures and their first UEFA Champions League group phase game to Dinamo Zagreb.
“Chelsea Football Club has today parted company with Head Coach Thomas Tuchel,” the club stated today.
“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club.
“Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea’s history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here.
“As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition.”
The club said the coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of their upcoming matches as they search for a new manager.
Tuchel won the Champions League in May 2021 barely four months into his appointment and led Chelsea to the FA Cup and Carabao Cup finals last season, both of which they lost on penalties to Liverpool.
He has however been backed for this season with an over £250 million outlay on new signings, including Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella, Wesley Fofana and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
